Engineering Agrivoltaic Infrastructure for Mechanised UK Agriculture

Engineering Agrivoltaic Infrastructure for UK Agriculture

AgriVolta is focused on the development of agrivoltaic infrastructure concepts designed for mechanised UK agriculture.

The project explores how photovoltaic systems and agricultural operations can coexist efficiently within productive farmland, while supporting future energy resilience and sustainable land use.

Current work is focused on engineering principles, infrastructure design, agricultural compatibility, and long-term system integration.

  • Renewable energy coexistence
  • Long-term land-use resilience

Why Agrivoltaics?

Agrivoltaics explores the integration of photovoltaic infrastructure within active agricultural land.

Rather than separating energy generation from farming, agrivoltaic systems aim to support dual-use landscapes capable of producing both food and renewable energy simultaneously.

In the UK, this presents opportunities to improve land-use efficiency, strengthen energy resilience, and support long-term agricultural sustainability while maintaining productive farmland.
